Please keep my other half, Jonathan, and his family in your hearts and prayers. I’ve never been a witness to such unfair heartbreak. Their son, grandson, brother, baby of just my age deserved to see his dreams and older days. Why won’t the world stop for our new angel?
Dreaming on a Concrete Runway. Wearing @designbyloraimy.
The beginning of Fall is always a guessing game with Mother Nature. While everyone is pulling out their jackets and sipping pumpkin spice lattes, I’m still holding on to any bit of summery sun I can get. I’m a Leo, I can’t help it.
I like to have versatility on my blog. No one wears heels and dresses every day, so here’s something more casual - what you’re more likely to catch me in while lounging around the city.
Check out this post at http://smilechiquita.blogspot.com/2013/10/summer-past-september.html for more info on my favorite leggings and braletters from Victoria’s Secret PINK.
My fashion blog has been up for almost 3 months now and I’d like to say every day is a learning experience for me in the blogger world. I’m constantly reading and looking up new things. I’m more confident, knowledgeable, and hard-working. I can already see my growth and it amazes me. My writing, pictures, and even style have evolved. I’m proud of myself and really cannot wait for whatever comes my way.
Thanks to anyone who reads my work! You have no idea how much your support means to me. No kind word, view, or like goes unnoticed. I truly mean it when I say, thank you for being part of my style journey.

This ‘dress’ was a gift for my birthday a couple months ago. My boyfriend caught me eyeing it online a couple weeks prior and surprised me. Little did we know, it was actually a top - surely too short to wear alone.
This piece caught my eye because it’s just different, so many textures and distinguishing qualities adorably put together. I call it my modern Victorian mini dress (yes, there are shorts under there!). The high neck is unlike anything in my wardrobe. It creates a conservative chest that still keeps it sexy with the keyhole. The flower lace detailing is simply beautiful, especially when offset with the surrounding chiffon pleats.
I admit, styling this ’dress’ in other ways will be a bit difficult, but it’s a classy, timeless, head-turning piece worth having. Check out more details at http://smilechiquita.blogspot.com/2013/09/lace-and-pleats.html.
Nothing compares to feeling supported and encouraged to do what I love. The absolute best compliment is someone asking me to share my style by shopping with them/helping with their wardrobe.
When my friend, Jasmine, decided to join me at the Uptown Fashion Week show, she said I absolutely had to help her pick an outfit to wear. It was flattering, especially because I used to go through her closet when I was younger and steal hand-me-downs from her. I decided we would check out H&M since I’d stopped in recently and saw tons of great fall pieces. See what I came up with and the full post at http://smilechiquita.blogspot.com/2013/09/my-first-style-consultation.html !
Thanks to @pammshit for the yummiest lunch ever! (at S’MAC)
Some photos from NYFW’s Uptown Fashion Week at the United Palace in Washington Heights. The show is meant to connect the center of NYFW in downtown NYC with Northern Manhattan. Work was shown from 12 designers on all levels, from emerging, to established, and even celebrity designers. Michael Costello, a Project Runway All Star, closed the show. I was uber excited to attend the show with some of the people I hold dearest!
